![]() This is what I do : make the planes leapfrog cities. The plane will spend more time circling, landing and loading than it will flying. Setting a plane's orders to A,B,C,D,E will result in very short and unproductive bunny hops. (They're not really in a straight line, but city A is closest to B and furthest from E.) Imagine the following scenario of cities. Do not make planes do little bunny hops from city to city. The trick is that planes earn big money by covering big distances quickly. My aircraft are my biggest earners, once the game is in its stable phase. #1 : I hear people complaining that aircraft don't make enough money. The moral? If you have more than 2 vehicles going to a road depot, build a road loop. If there is no convenient loop, it will travel forever until it finds one, because it will never do a U-turn in a single road. If there is a road loop nearby, it will use it. It finds the first crossroad and tries to loop back to the depot. What happens when a depot is full and a vehicle tries to enter it? It turns around and goes around the block. Still, takes as much as you can, as fast as you can, as far as you can and your profit will be good and so will your station ratings.Have you ever sniggered at the pointless road loops near AI road depots? Think again. You'll get paid the same if it takes 50 days or 100 days given the same Manhattan distance. These are cargoes that don't decay as fast, so they can sit in a ship that holds much larger capacities and travels slower. With ships, the value play comes in carrying bulk cargoes that do not lose much value if they travel more slowly. If you start out with trucks then after a few cycles you may want to consider a train. Keep an eye on your output, after a few months you'll start to see output piling up - that's when you either add more vehicles or step up to larger capacity vehicles. Start out with small vehicles with smaller capacity but good speed, and use 2-3 of them. So it doesn't matter really what form of transport you use, speed and frequency is going to be the key to a higher station rating. In turn, the longer it takes to deliver, the lower the output from your industry is going to be. So the longer it takes to load up your vehicle and transport it, the less money you're going to make.
